About This Call
The Firehouse Art Center is Longmont's leading contemporary art center featuring both national and local artists. The National Historic Landmark building features two exhibition spaces and over 1,000 square feet of space. In 2017 the center exhibited 123 artists in 15 unique exhibitions, with new exhibitions installed almost every month. Admission is free and the center serves over 7,500 visitors annually. The Firehouse was voted Best Art Gallery in East Boulder County for 6 consecutive years and Times Call Readers Choice for Best Art Gallery 5 years in a row.
The center focuses on accessible contemporary art that engages curiosity and conversation. The eight-member exhibitions committee consists of artists, art administrators, business professionals, curators, and art collectors. Preference is given to submissions that are culturally relevant with a unique perspective and the ability to provide a diverse art experience. Cutting edge contemporary work and multi-disciplinary artists are strongly encouraged. Group exhibitions and curatorial proposals are welcomed, as well as solo exhibition proposals from established and emerging artists in all mediums.
Entry fee is $30.00. Artists may submit up to 2 applications. Work samples must include a minimum of 4 images and a maximum of 6 images, with an optional 1 audio file and up to 2 video files, for a total of 4-8 samples. International artists are eligible.
