Fired: Artistry in Clay

Sunset River Gallery, located in Calabash, NC, is hosting Fired, a show and sale of ceramic work by North Carolina and South Carolina artists. The gallery represents over 100 local and regional artists in its 10,000 square foot space and has been a community mainstay for 22 years.

Fired seeks to explore what NC and SC artists are creating with clay, including both functional and non-functional pottery using traditional to contemporary techniques. Artists may submit up to 3 artworks. Work must be produced within the last 3 years, never previously shown at Sunset River Gallery, priced for sale, and not available elsewhere during the exhibition dates. Freestanding work must be stable and no more than 24" in diameter and 48" tall. Wall-mounted work must weigh no more than 10 pounds and be ready to hang securely. All work must be professional in caliber and presentation-ready.

Submissions require 1-3 images and optional video, along with artist statement (up to 1000 characters), individual piece descriptions (300 character limit), title, medium, dimensions, price, year completed, and process details. Entry fee is $35. Eligibility is limited to NC and SC artists age 18 and older. Jury dates are January 27-31, 2025. Accepted artists will receive notification by February 3, 2025. The exhibition runs March 15 - April 19, 2025, with opening reception on March 15 at 2-4pm. Best in Show and People's Choice awards will be presented. Gallery takes 50% commission on sales. Artists are responsible for insuring their own work.
