Fire Station #6 Art

The City of Greeley is seeking one artist to create artwork for the new Fire Station #6, a multi-use building that will also house a dedicated area for the Greeley Police Department. The building will be located along Promontory Parkway near the 18th St roundabout north of Hwy 34, with construction beginning in September/October 2019.

The selected artist will work with the Fire Station #6 Project Design Team to develop artistic concepts and submit a detailed final proposal with itemized budget and timeline by September 10, 2019. The artwork installation is projected for May or June 2020. The Design Team seeks representational artwork that may include one or a series of outdoor sculptural works or indoor works of art. The design must communicate the traditional values and acknowledge the civic contributions of the Greeley Fire Department and/or first responders, incorporating values such as Dedication, Excellence, Honor, Integrity, Respect, and Safety. A Colorado theme may also be interwoven into the design.

The budget for artwork is not to exceed $65,000 and is all inclusive, covering transportation, site visits, designing, engineering, fabrication, site preparation including foundation if needed, delivery, installation, traffic control, and all permits required by the City of Greeley. Artist selection will be based partially on past experience with collaborative projects and work appropriate to the site. The selected artist must attend design development meetings with architects, engineers, and managers, and work collaboratively to develop a mutually agreeable design. A minimum of two progress reports showing design evolution will be required. Final design work must be original and include all details necessary for fabrication and installation. Once the Greeley Art Commission accepts the final design and payment is made, the City will retain all rights to the final design. Applicants must submit 6 images.
