About This Call
The City of Loveland Art In Public Places program is seeking applications to create a mural inside the lobby of the Loveland Development Center, located at the Fire & Administration Building on 5th Street in downtown Loveland, Colorado. The Development Center is opening in Spring 2016 after a lobby renovation and will provide local governmental services including building services, planning, historic preservation, community partnership, and transportation development review.
The mural will be constructed on a rectangular wall approximately 7' 8" high by 18' wide with a bar-type counter with computers and stools partially obstructing the view. The scope of work includes design and implementation of the mural in any medium. Artists are encouraged, but not required, to consider colorful, abstract, vibrant, edgy, and/or urban themes. Budget is $7,000, all inclusive.
Applicants must submit 5-10 images of past work made within the last 10 years, a resume with references, and a brief artist statement of interest in the project and relevant experience. Previous mural experience will be considered favorably. Submissions are due November 4, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Up to three finalists will be notified December 8, 2015 and invited to view the site. Finalists will have three weeks to prepare a proposal and will receive a $500 stipend post-presentation. The winner will be announced January 8, 2016. Mural completion date will be determined by the artist and the City's Facilities Operations Division.
