About This Call
Loewen Studio & Gallery invites artists working in quilt making to submit work for the inaugural Fine Art Quilts exhibition celebrating the artistic and expressive potential of quilts. This juried show seeks quilts that demonstrate originality, strong design, and visual impact as fine art. Whether abstract or representational, minimalist or intricate, entries should showcase quilting as a serious art form. Traditional techniques are welcome if presented in innovative ways. All entries must be original compositions and may include mixed media, surface design, or unconventional materials.
Applicants may submit up to 3 artworks. You must submit one full view image and one detail image of each work for a possible total of 6 images. Detail images are required. Images must be submitted through callforentry.org in JPEG format, 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, under 5MB, with sRGB color profile. An insurance value and sale price must be included in the application. All work must be for sale; the gallery will retain a 40% commission on all sales made during the exhibition.
Key dates: Entry deadline November 15, 2025. Notification of acceptance December 15, 2025. Delivery of quilts January 12-17, 2026. Exhibition dates January 31 - March 7, 2026. Artist reception January 31, 2026, noon to 2pm. Return shipping begins March 10, 2026. Quilts must arrive at the gallery between January 12-17, 2026. Artists are responsible for packing, shipping, and insurance of accepted work to and from the gallery. Work must be shipped in a sustainable, reusable container. Continental US artists must provide return shipping labels or forms. Alaska, Hawaii, US territories, and international artists may ship one way; the gallery will invoice for return shipping. The Best of Show winner may be presented the opportunity for a future solo show. The People's Choice award is $500, voted on by in-person gallery visitors. Gallery owner Pamela Loewen, a quilt artist, will select the show. The gallery is looking for artists with cohesive bodies of work, unique voices, strong design skills, beautiful color and value usage, and excellent craftsmanship.
