Film Photo Award - Fall 2022

The Film Photo Award offers two award cycles per year, providing three distinct grants of Kodak Professional Film and complementary film processing by Griffin Editions to photographers who demonstrate a serious commitment to film-based photography. The award is open to all emerging, established, and student photographers worldwide, 18 years old or older.

During each spring and fall award cycle, 3 film grants will be awarded: 2 Visionary Project Awards and 1 Student Project Award. Each film grant award includes your choice of 100 rolls of 35mm, 100 rolls of 120, or 200 sheets of 4x5 film. Student Project Award recipients also receive a new 4x5 camera from Standard Cameras. All awards include Kodak Professional Film, film processing with Griffin Editions, an exclusive feature published in Lenscratch, and an interview published on the Film Photo Award website and social media.

The Visionary Project Award is designed to support photographers in their continued use of Kodak Professional Film within their photographic practice. Open to all emerging or established photographers worldwide, 18 years old or older. The Student Project Award is designed to help student photographers begin or continue a film photography project. Applicants must be currently enrolled at an institution of higher education at the time of submission and provide a scanned image of their student ID. Entry fees are $35 for the Visionary Project Award and $25 for the Student Project Award. Applicants may submit 1-15 images representative of recent past projects or current projects. A project proposal (not exceeding 4000 characters), CV/Resume/Bio (not exceeding 2 pages), and submission fee are required. Submissions open October 1, 2022 and close November 6, 2022 at 11:59pm EST. Awards will be announced in late-November 2022, with awarded film shipped in December 2022. Past recipients are ineligible to receive the Film Photo Award again for three years. Recipients agree to commence or continue the work proposed in their submission during the year following receipt and will be asked to donate one print to the Film Photo Award Archive at the conclusion of their one-year grant period.
