Figment: A National Juried Exhibition of Fanciful, Whimsical & Surreal Artworks

Figment is an exhibition featuring whimsical, surreal, and fantasy-themed artworks. The d'Art Center seeks works that come from the artist's imagination and push the boundaries of reality by depicting something purely from the artist's mind. Works can be inspired by fairy tales, legends, myths, mythical creatures, magic, and folklore. 2D and 3D works in all mediums and styles are eligible, including digital art such as digital collaging and compositing. AI-generated images are not permitted.

Works cannot exceed 50 pounds or be longer/larger than 60 inches in their longest dimension, though size and weight restrictions may be waived by contacting the Gallery Manager directly prior to submission. The exhibition is in-person and will also be featured digitally on d'Art Center's archive site. The exhibit is co-curated by d'Art Center Gallery Director Amanda Bradley and juror Chris Jeanguenat, an award-winning Virginia-based artist known for her expressive, storytelling style.

Entry fee is $35 for 3 submissions; additional submissions are $5 each, with a maximum of 10 works. Artists must submit 3-10 images. The exhibition runs July 5 - August 2, 2025, with a reception on Friday, July 11th, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Notifications will be sent by email by 5 p.m. on Monday, May 19th, 2025. Accepted works must arrive by 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 28th, 2025. Awards include 1st Place ($500), 2nd Place ($300), and 3rd Place ($150). The d'Art Center retains 40% commission on sales. This exhibition is open to all artists 18 or older residing in the United States. All work must be original, created without instructor or kit assistance, and produced within the last eight years. Work must be hang or pedestal ready.
