About This Call
Black Box Gallery is hosting a juried group photography exhibition on Trees and Water. The exhibition will feature contemporary photography exploring both subjects in a dynamic and diverse presentation. Water can be an ocean, river, pool, fountain, rain, mist, fog, lakes, snow, or waves. Trees serve as powerful subjects of composition, providing strong visual foundations for exploring space and time. The gallery invites photographers to explore their technique and ideas within these themes.
The juror is Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery, who holds an MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has 25 years of experience in arts education and curation. The exhibition runs March 1-25, 2026. Twenty-six photographs will be selected for exhibition at the gallery, and an additional 50 photographs will be selected for the online gallery annex. All 76 photographs will be included in a catalog available for purchase on Blurb Books.
Black Box Gallery provides free printing, matting, and framing for all exhibitions. Selected photographers submit high-resolution TIFF or JPEG files for printing on an Epson Stylus Pro archival inkjet printer using Epson Premium Luster Photo paper. Prints are displayed in 18" x 24" black frames with white mats pre-cut for 12" x 18", 12" x 12", and 12" x 16" prints. Exhibition prints are retained in flat files after the show for future promotion and sale. Black Box Gallery takes a 50% commission on all sales, with 50% going to the photographer. All rights remain with the photographer, and no sale or printing occurs without prior consent. Entry fee is $40. Photographers may submit 1-5 images. Open to international photographers.
