Fiber in 3D

Fiber in 3D is a juried exhibition open to international artists. The call for entry runs November 1 through November 30, 2023. Selected artwork will be featured in the spring 2024 issue of Fiber Art Now (released early April 2024) and eligible for an onsite exhibition at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, Houston, Texas, January 27 through May 4, 2024.

Artists are invited to enter up to two innovative three-dimensional artworks of original design that stretch the boundaries of fiber and textile techniques. Each artwork must include a fiber component or textile technique. Accepted media and techniques include: bamboo, basketry, bojagi, book arts, cotton, crochet, embroidery, fusing, hand tufting, handmade paper, hemp, knitting, knotting, latch hooking, macramé, needle felting, nuno felting, paper, polyester, quilting, rayon, rug hooking, sashiko, shibori, silk, tapestry, weaving, wet felting, wire, and wool. Artworks created within the last five years are preferred.

Entry fee is $30 for up to two images and two detail images. Fiber Art Now subscribers receive a discounted rate of $20 with discount code FAN2023. Full images must show the edges of the artwork without other objects, with a smooth wall or photo paper background. Detail images should show a portion of the full image. Images must be JPEG or JPG format, 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side, under 5 MB, with sRGB color profile. Only one artwork per artist will be eligible for selection. Notifications will be emailed on or before December 15. Prizes will be awarded: 1st place $300, 2nd place $250, and 3rd place $200. The exhibition will be juried by the Fiber Art Now creative team.
