Fiber Focus 2019

Fiber Focus 2019 is a juried exhibition featuring artworks in all media that focus on fiber as media or technique. Contemporary artworks in any fiber media or combination of fiber media will be considered. Other media may be incorporated, however, the central or key element explored must clearly be fiber or fiber technique. All styles, techniques, and themes are welcome.

Artists age 21 and older from nine Midwestern regional states are eligible to submit: Arkansas, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. Submissions must include 1-6 images and up to 3 videos. Entry fees are $40 for non-members and $30 for Art Saint Louis members. The deadline to enter is July 8, 2019 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Artwork must be completed between 2016-2019. Limit three original artworks per submission. Proposals are not considered; the exhibit is juried from digital images of actual artworks. If accepted, the artwork submitted for jurying is the artwork that will be exhibited with no substitutions allowed.

The exhibition will be held at Art Saint Louis Gallery in downtown St. Louis, September 28-October 24, 2019. A free reception will be held Saturday, October 5, 2019, 5-7 p.m., during the Innovations in Textiles 2019 collaborative event and the Surface Design Association's biennial conference. The juror is fiber artist Arturo Alonzo Sandoval, Emeritus Professor at the University of Kentucky. Awards include one $250 cash Best of Show Award and additional non-cash Awards of Excellence. All artist names are withheld during the blind jury process. Artists will be notified of acceptance status by email by August 9, 2019.
