About This Call
The White River Valley Museum is seeking artists to participate in their third annual Festival of Trees exhibit with the theme "dreamscapes." Artists are invited to submit their interpretations of this theme through decorated or created trees.
Artists may either decorate a 7ft green artificial tree provided by the Museum or create their own tree independently to install at the Museum. Installation must occur on November 11 or 12, 2022, with deinstallation on January 3 or 4, 2023. Selected artists will receive a $300 stipend post-installation. A people's choice voting will take place during the exhibit's run, and the artist with the most votes will receive an additional $500 award.
All trees must follow these requirements: access to at least one outlet or powerstrip for lighting is provided; decorations cannot contain food, living plants or animals, high-voltage or vintage lights, anything combustible, battery-operated items, glow products, or glitter; no permanent alterations to Museum-provided trees are permitted; and no political or religious themes are allowed. Applications must include a resume or group description, a short proposal and sketch detailing relevance to the theme, intention to use a Museum tree or create independently, materials to be used, and installation details. This opportunity is open to Washington state artists, collectives, groups, or art-based student organizations.
