About This Call

ArtWorks Foundation's Festival Artist Incubator Internship is a year-long program open to Texas residents whose work is deemed by jurors as promising and professional. The program is designed to train artists to gain entry to and sell their work at top art fairs in the nation.

First Year: Participants will volunteer and learn by apprenticing with professional artists during the Art Worth Festival (October 23-26, 2025, held on the lawn of The Shops at Clearfork in Fort Worth, Texas). Interns will spend time with professional mentors to learn the business firsthand, meet art festival professionals including staff and jurors, and participate in free follow-up workshops covering financial planning, portfolio reviews, booth displays, and pricing work.

Second Year: Interns will have the opportunity to sell their work alongside fellow Festival Incubator Interns at the Art Worth Festival, with display in the Incubator Artists' Tent and personal consultations on financial planning and the application process. Second-year interns are eligible for the Incubator Jury Award, a cash prize for the strongest body of work among that year's class.

Requirements: Open to Texas residents age 18 or older. Applicants must not have participated in a major juried art festival. College or university education is not required. Non-local residents must be willing to travel to Fort Worth and provide their own housing during the festival. No more than six interns will be selected each year. All work must be original, handcrafted work designed and executed by the accepted artist. No reproductions or commercially produced work is permitted. Artists must be present with their work for the entire festival and provide their own professional-grade tent and display materials.

Application deadline: September 30, 2025.
