Feminist Insight: Continuing Her Story

Fayetteville State University's Rosenthal Gallery and Ellington-White Contemporary Gallery invite submissions for the second annual national juried competition "Feminist Insight: Continuing Her Story." This exhibition examines roles of women now and in the past; progress towards gender equality; and outlook for the future of womenkind.

The six-week exhibition runs March 21 - April 29, 2023, with two components: a physical gallery exhibition and an online exhibition. All selected artwork will exhibit online, and the juror will select certain works for the physical gallery display. Artists may submit a maximum of three original works of art in all 2D and 3D media. Work size must be between 12" x 12" and 48" x 60" including frame. All works must be properly framed, wired, and ready to hang. Entry fee is $35 for up to three images. The juror is Soni Martin, an award-winning professional artist and tenured professor of visual art at Fayetteville State University. Cash awards will be given. A 30% commission applies to all sales.

Eligibility is open to all professional artists 18 years and older. All work must be original and not previously exhibited at Ellington-White Contemporary. Submissions are accepted via CaFE (Call for Entry) from January 27 through February 28, 2023 (Midnight MST). Accepted works must arrive by March 15, 2023. Shipped works should be sent to Rosenthal Gallery, Fayetteville State University, 1200 Murchison Road, Fayetteville, NC 28301, prepaid via UPS, USPS, or FedEx with a prepaid return-shipping label. Hand deliveries are accepted at Ellington-White Contemporary, 113 Gillespie St, Fayetteville, NC 28301, Wednesday-Saturday 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, March 8-18, 2023. Acceptance notifications will be sent March 2, 2023. An artists reception is scheduled for March 21 from 7-9 p.m. Work pickup is May 4-7 from 11 am to 4 pm by appointment.
