Fayetteville Regional Airport Public Art Project

The Fayetteville Regional Airport is seeking a qualified artist or artist team for a public art project located inside the A Concourse Rotunda of the Airport Terminal at 400 Airport Road in Fayetteville, NC. The art display will be suspended from the ceiling of the Rotunda. The installation will be permanent and become sole property of the Fayetteville Regional Airport. The artistic style has not been preselected. The design and content must meet project goals of being modern and unique to the Fayetteville Regional Airport, creating excitement and interest for the traveling community while representing the airport tastefully and creatively.

The Rotunda is located inside the airport terminal, post-security. Suspended artwork is limited to a weight restriction of 200 pounds or less. The diameter of the Rotunda is 51 feet 2 inches, with a height from floor to upper roof truss of 22 feet. Artists should submit proposals including a letter of interest (no more than one page), current resume, ten digital images of the artist's work (up to 15 images for teams), an annotated image list, at least three professional references with complete contact information, rendering(s) or maquette expressing their vision with a project description (no more than 500 words), and an estimated all-inclusive cost breakout including insurance, travel/lodging, fabrication, supplies, and installation expenses.

The selection will take place as a blind search. An Advisory Panel consisting of Fayetteville Regional Airport staff, Airport Commission Members, and The Arts Council of Fayetteville-Cumberland County will review submissions and select up to three finalists. Selected finalists will be announced in March 2022. Finalists will receive $250 to provide a fully-realized model by April 2022 and may be asked to meet with the selection panel by email, phone, or Zoom. The winning design will be presented to the Fayetteville Regional Airport Commission for final approval. The selected artist and/or artist-led team must be present for installation and remain on site for the duration of installation. The artwork must have a minimum lifetime of ten years. Open to professional artists residing in the USA.
