About This Call
FATE/MACAA is hosting a members' juried exhibition and student online show. This is the first members' exhibition since 1997 and the first conference-related student online show since 2003. Jesse Payne and Scott Betz serve as organizers.
The Members Show features professional work from FATE and MACAA members displayed at Mad Art Gallery in St. Louis's historic Soulard neighborhood. Mad Art Gallery is housed in a renovated 1930s Art Deco former police station with 19,000 square feet of space, including a 3,800 square-foot gallery with state-of-the-art lighting. Jurors for the members show are Ronald Buechele (Director, Mad Art Center) and Martin Brief (Assistant Professor, St. Louis University). Members may submit up to three works. Entry fee is $25.00. Submissions must be .jpg images at 1920 x 1920 pixels. Acceptance notification is March 1, 2011. Work must arrive by March 30 to be exhibited. All shipping is the artist's responsibility.
The Student Show features freshman studio work in drawing, color theory, 2D design, and 3D design from MACAA and FATE members' students. The exhibition has a virtual format with no shipping or display costs for students. Three pieces selected by juror Greg Shelnutt will be displayed at the conference and reproduced on the FATE website, newsletter, and in FATE in Review. Faculty members may submit up to five works per student, with a maximum of five students per category and 25 students total per faculty member. Student submissions are free with a coupon code. All submissions must be uploaded by February 21, 2011 at 11:59 PM MST. Images must be .jpg at 1920 x 1920 pixels. FATE maintains publishing rights for submissions but students retain ownership of their work.
