About This Call
Fashionistas Fight Back! is an open call for art exploring fashion in contemporary culture. The exhibition seeks artworks in all media including painting, sculpture, photography, video, and installations, as well as finished garments and fashion sketches. Works may celebrate fashion, critique it, or comment on its influence and expanding role in art and life. The juror will select works of painting, photography, video, sculpture, craft, and wearable art.
OCCCA is a large loft space with concrete floors, vaulted trussed beam ceiling, track lighting, and video projection capabilities. The space can accommodate installations and events. Opening night and exhibition events are planned, including fashion shows by participating artists. Submit artwork in any medium, including couture. Video submissions must be self-looping DVDs playable on conventional DVD players without special settings for continuous presentation.
Entry fee is $15.00 per submission, with an additional $15.00 media fee for additional entries. Work samples may include up to 20 images and 2 videos, with a minimum of 1 total sample and maximum of 20 total samples. The online submission deadline is September 5, 2015. Accepted entries will be announced September 12, 2015, with delivery of accepted works due on or before September 26, 2015. All accepted works will have a permanent presence in OCCCA's digital online slide registry. OCCCA is an artist-run, non-profit, community-based arts organization serving the community since 1980.
