Farms Across America Small Works 2021

This national juried exhibition welcomes entries of traditional and alternative photography in color or black & white, photo-based works, paintings, mixed media and small sculptural works showcasing farms throughout the United States in any season. Subject matter includes barns, vegetation rows, farm fields, crops and close-ups of crop plants, old or new barns, interior/exterior barns/farmhouses, and things found on a farm such as equipment, workers, and harvest (vegetarian, no animals). The juror, Paula Tognarelli, Executive Director and Curator of the Griffin Museum of Photography, will be looking for thought-provoking, creative works expressing the theme.

This Small Works competition is open to national artists and photographers 18 years or older. All works must be framed in white or natural light wood or Nielsen-type flat metal frames, with a maximum size of 13x13 inches or smaller. Forty-five works will be chosen for the exhibit. Entry fee is $35 for three works, with $5 per additional work (maximum 5 works total). Awards include First Place ($500), Second Place ($350), and Third Place ($200). All accepted works will be exhibited from December 4, 2021 – February 13, 2022.

Submission deadline is Friday, October 29, 2021 by 11:59pm MST. Accepted entries will be notified by email by November 6, 2021. Framed works must arrive at the gallery November 19-24, 2021. Unsold works must be picked up February 14-19, 2022. All works must be for sale with a 50/50 commission split between artist and gallery. Entries must not have been previously shown at or submitted to Alex Ferrone Gallery. Submitted work must remain available for the duration of the exhibit and cannot be displayed in any other physical venue or online platform during this time.
