About This Call
The Utah Division of Facilities Construction and Management and the Utah Division of Arts & Museums Public Art Program requests qualifications from Utah-based artists and artist teams interested in creating site-specific artwork for the Farmington Regional Center. The facility will house regional offices for four state agencies: the Department of Health and Human Services, Utah Division of Motor Vehicles, the Department of Public Safety, and the Department of Workforce Services.
The Art Committee has identified the exterior courtyard as the area of interest for this project and is strongly interested in artworks that complement the planned landscaping. Proposed artworks should be reflective of the natural beauty of Davis County and acknowledge Utah's outdoor recreation tradition. Artworks may draw inspiration from local wetlands, Farmington's extensive trail system, and flora and fauna endemic to the region. The artwork's subject matter and content must be appropriate for public exhibition and not contain advertising, religious references, sexual or violent content, or convey political partisanship. The Committee is interested in spatial artworks that allow for rich and varied interpretation from visitors.
A budget of $103,600 is available for all related expenses including artist fees, fabrication, support structures, insurance, shipping, travel, lighting, installation, and documentation. Professional artists and artist teams residing in Utah are eligible; artists living in Davis County will receive additional weight in the review process. Applicants must have a U.S. Tax ID Number. Applications must include up to 10 images and/or up to 1 video file of previous work, a CV or resume, and a Statement of Interest. The deadline for receipt of preliminary materials is November 8, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Semi-finalists will present full proposals on January 23, 2025, and all semi-finalists will receive an honorarium applied toward the final commission amount. Artwork completion is targeted for Spring 2026 with project substantial completion in Summer 2026.
