About This Call

Photography contest and exhibition promoting awareness of the benefits of local farming and locally-grown food. Sponsored by Crooked Tree Arts Center, Institute for Sustainable Living, Art & Natural Design, Charlevoix County Community Foundation, and the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Community Foundation.

Three entry categories: From the Farm (local food production), From the Table (local food preparation and presentation), and From the Market (local food sales). Photographers may submit up to six entries total, with a maximum of two entries per category. All photographs must have been taken in Emmet or Charlevoix counties between June 1, 2013 and September 12, 2013, and must not have been previously exhibited in either county. Eligible contestants include photographers 18 and under, and adult amateur/professional photographers. Work must be dependent primarily on photographic processes.

Jurors will select 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in each photo category by age group, plus one "Best in Show" entry from all exhibited artwork. Selected artists will be notified after September 27, 2013. Framed artwork must be delivered between September 30 and October 16, 2013, with a maximum size of 20" by 17". The exhibition runs from October 22, 2013 through December 16, 2013 at Crooked Tree Arts Center's Atrium Gallery. Awards ceremony is October 22, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Carnegie Library Building, 451 E. Mitchell Street. Crooked Tree Arts Center retains a 40% commission on any work sold. Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping of work and insurance coverage is limited to 60% of retail value while on the Arts Center premises.
