Farm Island Anthology

Tubac Center of the Arts in collaboration with The Bone Creek Museum of Agrarian Art (David City, NE) presents a juried exhibition titled "Farm Island Anthology." The exhibition features artwork inspired by Penny Niemi's "Farm Island Anthology" poetry, which explores rural American agrarian life and the legacy of farmers. Artists working in all media—including painting, photography, sculpture, quilting, mixed media, textile weaving, and pottery—are invited to submit work that draws inspiration from the poems. Submissions must identify which poem, phrase, or words inspired the artwork. The poems are available as a PDF on the TCA website.

Artists may submit to either Tubac Center of the Arts, Bone Creek Museum, or both venues, with each artwork specific to its venue. Work must have been completed within the last 24 months and cannot have been previously displayed at TCA. All work must be original creations. Up to three 2D or 3D artworks may be submitted. The entry fee is $35 for the first entry and $4 for each additional entry. TCA member artists receive a $5 discount with member code FARM23. Applications are limited to the first 149 artist applicants.

Exhibit dates: Bone Creek Museum, March 17 - July 10, 2023; Tubac Center of the Arts, April 7 - May 29, 2023. Artwork delivery to TCA is April 4, 2023, with opening reception April 7, 2023 (5-7pm). Artwork pickup is May 30, 2023. Each venue will have a separate juror selecting work based on quality, relevance, gallery space availability, and exhibition cohesiveness. Awards at each venue include Best of Show ($600), Award of Excellence ($400), Award of Merit ($300), Juror's Award ($200), and two Honorable Mentions ($100 each).
