About This Call
Laguna College of Art and Design is hosting its second juried art exhibition at Fairhaven Mausoleum in Santa Ana, November 8-11, 2007. The exhibition is open only to Laguna College of Art and Design Illustration and Fine Arts alumni and currently enrolled MFA students. The theme is "Capturing the Force of Stillness."
Fairhaven Memorial Park (1702 Fairhaven Ave, Santa Ana, CA 92705) is a century-old memorial park bordering Santa Ana, Orange, and Tustin. The venue is a stone and marble mausoleum built in 1916, approximately 20,000 square feet, with 30-foot ceilings, marbled walls and floors, and stained glass windows. The mausoleum is included in the National Register of Historical Places. Artists are invited to submit up to six images of 2D artworks (paintings, drawings, etchings, prints, illustrations) and/or 3D artworks (sculpture). There is no size limitation; large work is encouraged as well as small pieces. All accepted artworks should be framed and ready for easel display with no wires required. More than one piece may be selected for exhibition. The entry fee is $35 per entrant, regardless of the number of pieces submitted. Insurance will be provided for all artworks during the exhibition. Artists will receive 70% of all profits from artwork sales; the remaining 30% will cover event costs and establish an Alumni Scholarship Fund. Delivery of art is November 7. Opening night and artist's party is November 8. Art pickup is November 11 (9-10pm) or November 12 (9-11am). The jury includes Sharon Allicotti, chair of the Masters of Fine Arts program, for the Fine Arts division, and George Zebot, past chair of the undergraduate Illustration division, for Illustration.
