FACES – An Exploration in All Mediums

The Tolleson Art Gallery invites artists to submit work that explores the concept of faces—human, abstract, imagined, or symbolic. A face is more than a collection of features; it is a canvas of emotion, identity, history, and connection. Whether literal or metaphorical, traditional portrait or experimental abstraction, the gallery seeks work that speaks to the power, complexity, and mystery of the face. Artists are encouraged to think expansively and creatively about how faces appear, what they reveal, and what they conceal.

This exhibition is open only to Arizona artists of all backgrounds and experience levels, working in any medium including painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, 3D works, textile, ceramic, glass, photography, digital art, video, and installation. Submissions must include up to three JPEG images at 300 DPI minimum, a brief artist statement (max 250 words) related to the submission and theme connection, and details about artwork (title, dimensions, medium, price). All entries must be original works created by the submitting artist.

The exhibition runs July 18 – September 27, 2025, at Tolleson Art Gallery, located inside Tolleson Public Library, 9055 W Van Buren St, Tolleson, AZ. Selected artists will receive a $575 stipend if they present a program (minimum 1-hour workshop, artist talk, demo, or other public engagement), or $100 if exhibiting without a program. Submission deadline is June 18, 2025.
