About This Call
FACE IT: The Face in Contemporary Art is an international juried art exhibition exploring new ways that artists represent the character, disposition, and complexity of human faces. The exhibition will be held at OnSite:Brooklyn from June 6 – July 11, 2015, with an opening reception on Wednesday, June 10, 2015 from 6-8PM. The juror is Annette Rose-Shapiro, managing editor of ARTNews magazine.
This open call invites submissions of paintings, drawings, prints, and mixed media in two-dimensional formats from artists 18 years of age or older. All artwork must be original. The exhibition seeks work that captures the distinct, unusual, symbolic, and expressive features of the human face made in an imaginative and compelling way. The Brooklyn Prize of $1,000 will be awarded to an individual artist in the show.
Entry fee is $35 for up to three images, plus $5 for each additional image (minimum 3, maximum 10 images). All entries must be received by midnight, May 4, 2015 PST. Accepted artists will be notified by May 11, 2015 via email and must confirm participation by May 18, 2015. Work must be suitably framed to professional standards, wired and ready for hanging, and priced for sale. Maximum size is 48" w x 60" h x 4" d. OnSite:Brooklyn retains a 35% commission on all exhibition sales. Shipped work must be received two weeks prior to the exhibition. Hand-delivered work is accepted June 1-4 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Artwork can be picked up July 12-14 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. OnSite:Brooklyn is located at 165 7th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215 in the Gowanus arts district.
