F-Action Music Video Competition

F-Action Music Video Competition is open to current F Magazine board members and contributors. All entries will be judged by Outside directors and producers. Music videos made prior to 2013 are accepted. Multiple entries are permitted but must be submitted individually.

The music video must be no longer than 10 minutes, including closing end credits. End credits must include the names of all individuals and entities involved in the production, including musicians and all individuals involved in the music recording production. Music must be original with no cover tunes permitted. The filmmaker or primary video representative must obtain signed approval from the band/music representative. While the music does not have to be created by Alaska residents, residency is preferred and will be considered by judges. The entry fee is $25.00. Registration deadline is July 1, 2013 at 10pm. Submission deadline is September 1, 2013 at 10pm.

Videos must be submitted online and on disc (DVD or Blu-Ray format). Accepted file types include 3GP, WMV, AVI, MOV, ASF, MPG, MP4, M2T, MKV, and M2TS. Minimum resolution is 640x480, maximum 1920x1080. Aspect ratio must be 4:3 or 16:9. Minimum frame rate is 12 fps (30 fps recommended). Maximum file size is 100 MB. Judging is based on content (25%), quality of production (25%), technical skill (25%), and final product (25%). First, second, and third place winners will be selected, along with an editor's choice award (The F Bomb). The awards celebration will be held in November at Out North Contemporary Art House. Winning entries will be screened at film festivals around the state and entered in Outside film festival for consideration. By submitting, the filmmaker grants F Magazine exclusive premiere rights during November and December 2013, permission to screen through 2014, and permission to broadcast on the F Magazine website indefinitely. The filmmaker retains full ownership and may submit to other competitions simultaneously.
