About This Call
The City of Littleton Fine Arts Board presents the 55th Annual Eye of the Camera Thematic Photography Competition and Exhibition, awarding $2,400 in cash prizes. This year's juror is John Lake (www.johnbarnabaslake.com).
The 2021 theme is "Myths & Legends." Submissions should be photographic work (excluding video) that explores this theme. Related ideas include traditional stories, natural phenomena, social phenomena, supernatural beings or events, heroic historical characters, exaggerated deeds, narratives based on facts, and symbolic or metaphorical explanations. Include a short statement describing how your work relates to the theme in the description field for each piece or in your artist statement.
Eligibility and Requirements: This competition is open to Colorado residents only. All work must have been produced in the last 3 years and not shown in a Denver area juried photo show in the last two years. Entry fee is $30 (non-refundable). Entrants may submit up to 3 photographs. Framed size must not exceed 60 inches in length on any one side. All accepted entries must be available for sale; the Fine Arts Board charges a 25% commission on the sale price. All accepted entries must be properly framed and ready to hang with appropriate hanging materials (no saw tooth hangers). Work must be identified with photographer's name, title, price, and contact information.
Deadline for submission through CaFÉ is Thursday, January 21, 2021 at midnight mountain time. Notifications will be sent by USPS mail on or around Friday, January 29, 2021. If accepted, artwork must be delivered in person on Thursday, March 4, 2021 between 3pm and 7pm to the Littleton Museum (6028 S. Gallup Street, Littleton, CO 80120). No exceptions; artwork may not be shipped. Accepted photographs will be on display March 19 through April 24, 2021. Artwork pickup is Monday, April 26, 2021 from 9am to 3pm. Artwork not picked up at the specified time will be forfeited and become the property of the City of Littleton.
Awards: Best of Show - $1,500; First Place - $600; Second Place - $300.
