About This Call
EXTINCTION: Save the Planet 2021 is a dual art call encouraging artists to act as ambassadors of Earth and apply their artistic talent to widen people's perceptions about global warming, climate change, pollution, vanishing species, drought crisis, clean water scarcity, and greenhouse-gas emissions. Artists are invited to submit artistic interpretations addressing subjects including: animals, plants, and fungi in the IUCN Red List of threatened species; air, light, noise, plastic, chemical, thermal, and water pollution; global warming concerns such as meltdown and ice mass loss; animals and plants suffering due to climate changes; vanishing forests and wildfire spread; natural disasters and their effects on habitats; and prevention or mitigation of extinction threats to ecosystems.
All artists working in any medium are invited to submit from anywhere in the world. The submission is open to all visual artists creating original artworks in 2 and 3-dimensional media, including painting, drawing, illustration, printmaking, photography, digital art, fiber art, sculpture, and mixed media. All styles and any abstract or representational interpretations of the subject are welcome. Artists can submit up to 5 pieces of original artworks, with a maximum of 2 artworks selected per artist. There is no size limit or limit on artwork creation year, though artworks created within the last 5 years are preferred. Artworks must be entirely the work of the entrant and not copies or derivatives of other copyrighted work. Artists must have all rights for presenting and publishing artworks internationally.
Submission is free. Selected artists will be asked to pay a USD 40 selection fee. Selected artworks will be published in The Book of Arts: EXTINCTION series and showcased in an international online group exhibition by Gallerium from December 31, 2021 to January 31, 2022. Selected artworks will be published in an exhibition catalogue (online and print versions), featured in an exhibition press release, and included in an artist profile page on the Biafarin platform. Each artist receives a digital certificate and social media promotional badges. A report with views, comments, engagement rates, and sales statistics will be sent to artists.
