Exterior Mural Project for Blue Federal Credit Union & Blue Sport Stable

Blue Federal Credit Union and Blue Sport Stable is seeking design qualification applications for a mural on the main exterior wall near the entrance of the Blue Sports Stable in Superior, CO. The mural site is approximately 80 feet wide and 20 feet tall. Experienced mural artists are eligible to apply for this site-specific design commission. The selected design will be professionally vinyl printed and installed by a print contractor. The Town of Superior is assisting Blue Federal Credit Union with the administrative needs of this call-for-entry.

The mural design must be highly stylized and incorporate the following required elements: Blue Sports Stable Logo (provided by Blue), Rough Riders Logo (monotone) or "Home of the Rough Riders", BlueFCU Primary Blue Color as 40-60% of the composition, and visual reference to youth-themed sports including Hockey, Baseball, Basketball, Lacrosse, or Volleyball. Optional elements may include references to Superior Colorado, the Rocky Mountains, regional flora and fauna, or other regional landmarks.

Semi-finalists will be paid a $1,500 stipend each to prepare and present a mural design proposal. Upon selection of a finalist, Blue Federal Credit Union will cover all costs for print production and installation. Applicants must submit up to six digital images of completed public art or site-specific design work (no more than 2 images per project), a corresponding list describing the images, a resume demonstrating experience with commissioned site-specific public art mural designs, and a letter of interest. All applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent U.S. residents at least 18 years of age. Eligible applicants include public artists, sculptors, architects, landscape architects, or creative teams with demonstrated experience in site-specific design. Up to three finalists will be selected to present design concepts. Installation of the mural is planned for November-December, pending weather.
