Expressions West 2025

Expressions West 2025 is a regional juried competition for artists residing in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Artists may submit up to three works created within the last two years. The entry fee is $35 for the first submission and $10 for each additional submission.

Eligible mediums include paintings, drawings, hand-pulled prints, mixed media, fiber and textiles, small sculptures, glass, turned and carved wood, jewelry, photography, and furniture. All works must be framed and ready for hanging with a maximum size of 48 inches in any direction and a weight limit of 50 pounds. Works previously exhibited at Coos Art Museum are not eligible. Giclée prints, video, motion picture film, and audio are not accepted. Artworks using artificial intelligence software or A.I. tools are not eligible for prize consideration, though they may be juried into the exhibition if the artist discloses A.I. use in their submission.

The exhibition runs August 15 – October 12, 2025, at Coos Art Museum, 235 Anderson Ave, Coos Bay, OR 97420. The opening reception and awards ceremony is Friday, August 15, 5-7 p.m. Cash awards include $1,000 for First Place, $700 for Second Place, $200 for Third Place, and $50 each for two Honorable Mention awards. Accepted artworks must be delivered to the museum between August 5-8 (via carrier) or August 7-10 (hand delivery, noon-4pm). Artists are responsible for arranging return shipping or may pick up work October 14-17, noon-4pm. The submission deadline is June 20, 2025, and notification of acceptance will be sent by July 2, 2025. Jurors are Nicole Graham, an alternative art gallery owner and marketing specialist, and Katie Sifford, an artist and art educator.
