About This Call
Experimentation, Exploration, and Exuberance: Give It a Try! is a regional juried exhibition held at South Haven Center for the Arts in South Haven, Michigan, running September 30 through November 4, 2023. The exhibition is juried by Alisa E. Clark, an acrylic painter, collage maker, and experimental assemblage artist. Artists are invited to submit experimental works created with new mediums, unfamiliar artistic disciplines, or new purposes. When submitting, artists should be prepared to explain how their work is experimental and how they stepped outside their usual art practice.
Entries are open to artists 18 years and older residing in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Ohio. Artists may submit up to three works with a total of three images, plus one optional video. All work must be original and completed within the last five years. Size limits are 72" high x 55" wide maximum for 2D work, and 3D work must fit through a standard doorway with a maximum weight of 50 lbs. No installations or ceiling-hung work are permitted. Work must be framed and exhibition-ready, with proper labeling including artist contact information, title, medium, and price.
Entry fees are $35.00 for up to three pieces, or $15.00 for student artists and artists economically challenged by COVID or unforeseen events. South Haven Center for the Arts members receive $10 off with coupon code MEMBER2023. Awards include $250 for First Place and $100 for Second Place. Accepted work must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition. The SHCA retains a 35% commission on any sold work. Delivery of accepted work is September 12-23, 2023, with an opening reception on September 30 from 2-4pm. Pick-up is November 7-11, 2023, or November 4 from 4-4:30pm. Contact Kerry Hagy or Noelle Ringer at [email protected] with questions.
