Experience Art Rapids!

Experience Art Rapids! will hold its 2nd annual art competition and exhibition from June 9–22, 2018, in the Village of Elk Rapids with local businesses and public spaces hosting artists. Elk Rapids is located on the shores of Grand Traverse Bay. All mediums in 2D and 3D original works of art are accepted, with outdoor spaces available for sculptural works. The public will be guided through the event with a map and signs identifying participating venues.

Cash prizes totaling $7,000 will be awarded through both Juried Awards and People's Choice Awards. Juried Awards ($3,500): A jury of three will select a short list of the top five pieces, with $2,500 for Juror's Best of Show and $250 for each of the remaining four. People's Choice Awards ($3,500): Event attendees will vote for their favorite works via ballot, with $2,500 for first place and $250 for each of four individual works receiving the next highest vote count. An awards party will be held on June 23rd (attendance optional).

Entry fee is $35.00 non-refundable per application for up to 5 submissions. Eligibility: Must be 18 or older; all work must be original and not in violation of copyright. Submission materials must include images with titles, type of media, framed size, and notification if artwork is for sale. Artists must indicate pricing including Art Rapids!' 20% commission or mark as NFS (not for sale). Artwork must remain in the exhibition throughout the event. Art Rapids handles all sales transactions and will make shipping services available at cost. Disbursements of sales proceeds (less commission and sales tax) will be made by check within 3 weeks after the exhibition closes. Notification of acceptance will be sent May 1, 2018. Installation dates are June 4–8, 2018.
