About This Call
Proyecto Galería, a Dab Art Co. satellite gallery located in Colonia Centro, Mexico City, is accepting submissions for exhibition and artist residency opportunities. The gallery is housed in a 2-story former residence with 3,000 sq ft of combined exhibition space. The contemporary program is curated by Micheal Swank and focuses on artists and artwork within (but not limited to) the LGBTQ+ community.
Artists selected for exhibition will also receive a one-week virtual artist residency through Proyecto de Residencía (PRMX). Accepted artwork includes painting, printmaking, sculpture, glass, fiber, functional, digital, photography, installation, mixed media, and new genres. Submissions must include 3-20 images. Entry fee is $35 for 3 images; additional images cost $5 each. An optional 15-minute phone or Zoom consultation with the curator is available for $50.
All work must be original, unsold, and owned solely by the artist. 2D artwork selected for exhibition must be ready to hang with professional-quality frames, mats, and wiring in good condition. Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance. Shipments must include a prepaid UPS or FedEx return label and be shipped in a reusable container. No packing peanuts are permitted. The gallery retains a 50% commission on all sales. Payment to artists is provided within 60 days after the exhibit concludes and receipt of full payment from the buyer. Entries submitted on or before July 31, 2020 are reviewed weekly for upcoming exhibition consideration. Artists selected for online exhibitions will be placed on a gallery wait list with priority consideration for gallery exhibitions once COVID closures are lifted.
