Exhibition 280 2018

Open to artists 18 years and older who reside in West Virginia and bordering states: Ohio, Kentucky, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. All types of media are accepted.

Entry fee is $30 for 1 to 3 works, with a maximum of three works per artist. Entries must be submitted online by April 15, 2018. Works must be of original design and personal execution, created in the past three years, and cannot have been exhibited at the Huntington Museum of Art in the past three years. Juror is Laura Roulet, an independent curator and writer based in Washington, DC. Three $2,000 cash awards will be given for works selected by the juror, plus a purchase award selected by the HMA Curator. Awards will be announced at the exhibition reception on July 21, 2018, 5–7 pm.

Accepted artwork will be exhibited July 14–September 16, 2018. Wall space and pedestals will be provided. All work must be suitably prepared for exhibition with proper supports and hanging devices. Paintings must be framed or have museum finished edges. Works on paper must be matted under plastic glazing, not glass. No ceiling-suspended objects can be accommodated. Height limit: 9 feet. Weight limit: 500 lbs. Installations, computer-based, and video works must include all materials required for presentation. Straight-projection video works will be shown looped with other accepted video works.

Accepted works can be hand-delivered between June 18–July 1, 2018, or shipped (must be received by June 30, 2018). Artists are responsible for all shipping and insurance charges in both directions. Hand-delivered works may be picked up September 17–23, 2018 and must be removed by September 23, 2018. Shipped works will be sent out by October 1, 2018. The Huntington Museum of Art will insure against all risks of physical loss or damage during the loan period. Notification of acceptance will be sent May 16, 2018.
