Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital Exterior Sculpture Commission

NINE dot ARTS invites Colorado professional artists and artist teams to submit sculpture proposals for commission and permanent exhibition on the exterior of the new Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital. The new 826,000-square foot facility, scheduled to open in December 2014, will feature 348 private patient rooms and serve as a 21st century replacement for the existing hospital.

This RFP is open to all Colorado professional artists or artist teams capable of designing the piece and arranging for fabrication and installation. Knowledge and experience with large sculpture installation is required. The art budget range for the exterior sculpture location is $115,000-$135,000 retail cost. Entries will be judged on concept (originality of the artwork), spatial context (how the artwork relates to the space and audience), and quality (level of execution and workmanship). The final award will go to the artist whose work best reflects the mission and values of ESJH and the defined art program goals.

Submissions must be made through CaFE at callforentry.org with no application fees. Artists may submit existing artworks or ideas for site-specific commissioned artworks. Required materials include a cover letter (600 word maximum), resume or CV, artist's statement addressing at least one theme from the art criteria (2000 character maximum), estimated budget breakdown, and up to 15 image files of concept drawings, renderings, or work samples. All still images should be submitted in .jpg format. Supporting material samples or maquettes may be delivered or mailed to Martha Weidmann at NDA by prior arrangement.
