Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital Call for Entries - Interior Artworks

NINE dot ARTS invites Colorado professional artists and artist teams to submit artwork for selection and permanent exhibition in the interior spaces of the new Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital. The new 826,000-square foot facility will feature 348 private patient rooms and is scheduled to open in December 2014. Artworks will be judged on concept (originality), spatial context (relationship to space and audience), and quality (execution and workmanship). The final awards will go to artists whose work best reflects the hospital's mission and values and the defined art program goals. Artists may submit existing artworks or ideas for site-specific commissioned works. Submissions must include a cover letter (optional, 300 words maximum), resume or CV, artist's statement addressing at least one theme from the art criteria (2000 characters maximum), and up to 10 image files with captions including title, year, media, dimensions, retail price, wholesale price, and art location number. All still images should be submitted in .jpg format. Video and time-based media may be considered depending on availability of power and technical equipment. Supporting material samples or maquettes for proposed commission works may be delivered or mailed to Molly Casey at NDA by prior arrangement.

There are no application fees. The art budget is divided into three retail price ranges: six locations at $2,000-$7,000, three locations at $5,000-$10,000, and two locations at $15,000-$25,000. Wholesale pricing should account for standard dealer discounts of 50 percent for artists or 20-30 percent for gallery purchases. NDA will handle framing, mounting, and installation for most artworks; site-specific sculptural installations require artist participation. NDA will issue all purchase orders and payments. Optional community meetings are scheduled for January 18, February 4, and February 11, 2013 in Denver.
