About This Call
Exelon Corporation seeks to commission artwork(s) for their Constellation business unit headquarters at Harbor Point in Baltimore, Maryland. The artwork(s) will be sited in prominent location(s) in the general lobby of the building's main entrance floor. The primary audience will include Exelon employees and contractors, executive leadership, prospective employees, visitors, customers, stakeholders, and the general public.
The project intent is to commission artwork(s) that express Exelon's vision, brand and values in vibrant or thought-provoking 2D and/or 3D form (all media considered). The artwork should inform and captivate the audience's attention as they arrive and check in at the building main lobby security desk. Suggested thematic directions include: innovation, progress, community, collaboration, reliability, confidence, dynamism, warmth, celebration of energy and sustainability, sense of discovery, and continuous forward motion. Artists should consider the creative use of Exelon's logo and brand colors, and demonstrate willingness to learn about the Baltimore community and Exelon employees. The artwork must be durable, low maintenance, and appropriate for the location, considering high foot traffic and natural daylighting. The art must express itself naturally without lighting enhancements.
Eligibility is open to professional and emerging artists (including teams from multiple disciplines) residing in the United States. Applicants must submit a resume/CV, letter of interest (maximum two pages), relevant awards and recognitions, representative experience from the past ten years with client references, proposed team resumes, and a description of approach for fabrication and installation with project timeline. Work sample requirements: 6-10 images and 0-6 videos (6-16 total samples). There is no established budget; artists should propose a piece(s) relevant to the space and provide the associated budget. Entry deadline: March 23, 2015. Short-listed artists will be notified by April 23, 2015. Selected applicants will interview with Exelon's art committee in July/August 2015 in Baltimore. Project award: September 2015. Artwork installation: 2Q 2016.
