About This Call
The Ruth Foster Gallery at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire is hosting Exchanges: dialogues between poetry and art, a juried exhibition consisting of both visual and literary art. Poets are invited to submit original poems that interpret, inhabit, confront and/or speak to one of four professional works of visual art by Pat Brentano (Missing Birds), Scott Greene (Timberline), Alex Webb (Tehuantepec, Mexico, 1985), and Neery Gabriel Lemus (Friction of Distance).
Poets must be 18 or older to be eligible. Submission limit is 2 entries of poetry with no entry fee. Poems must be original and may be in free verse, traditional poetic form, or contemporized poetic form, of any length, and in any language (with English translation provided). Entries must identify the visual artwork that the poems respond to. Poems must be submitted as both a Word docx and PDF to ensure proper spacing. Optional audio recordings of poems may be submitted in MP4, MP3, or WAV format; the Foster Gallery may choose to exhibit recordings in addition to printed accepted poetry.
Submission deadline: July 1, 2023. Notice of accepted works: July 21, 2023. Delivery of work deadline: August 23, 2023. Exhibition dates: September 8 – October 4, 2023. Contact: [email protected]
