Excessive Measures

Excessive Measures seeks multi-faceted artworks that explore those times where things go over the line. The exhibition is looking for artistic acts of near-insanity—work that could be over the top, complex, OCD, gaudy, rude, flashy, grandiose, drastic, disproportionately-sized, busy, in-your-face, or overblown. Excessive Measures also encourages works that explore America's culture of excess, vanity, greed, and extremes. The exhibition accepts artwork from any medium (video art cannot be accommodated at this time), including work from Student, Emerging, Mid-Career, and Professional Artists. Sculptural and 3D works are encouraged. Work should follow and/or challenge the theme of the exhibit and be attractive for audiences and collectors.

The exhibition is open to artists over age 18 in the United States and Canada. Work must be original, ready to display, and not previously shown at Vestige Concept Gallery. All work must be for sale at reasonable prices. No Giclees or reproductions will be accepted unless the work itself is a Giclee or digital work. Print works (aside from monoprints) must have an edition number. Applicants may submit up to ten entries; two entries are included in the $28 application fee, with an additional $5 per entry for submissions beyond two.

The application deadline is August 13, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Artists will be notified of acceptance on or before August 14. Shipped work must arrive by August 25. The opening reception is Saturday, August 26, with the show running through October 1. Vestige Concept Gallery retains a 30% commission on sold artwork. Artists are responsible for shipping costs to and from the gallery and must include a return-service shipping label. Work must be shipped in reusable, sturdy boxes marked with the artist's name. 2D work must not exceed 30 pounds including frame. Wall pieces must be securely wired and framed.
