Excellence in Traditional Fine Art Competition

The California Art Club invites submissions for American Tapestry, an online juried competition celebrating contemporary-traditional fine art. The exhibition runs July 3 through September 21 and is open to current members of the California Art Club, including Associate Artists, Student Artists, Artists, Out-of-State Artists, Mentorship Program Artists, and Signature Artists.

American Tapestry presents a series of vignettes reflecting the richness of life in America, both individual and collective. The exhibition encourages artists to represent this theme through contemporary-traditional methods, including landscapes, waterscapes, urban landscapes, figurative works, and still lifes. Artwork must be created in the last three years. Eligible mediums include oil, watercolor, pastel, gouache, acrylic, charcoal, color pencil, graphite, and sculptures in permanent materials such as bronze, marble, terra cotta, fiberglass, resin, or wood. Giclees, prints, photography, digital works, and digitally altered works will not be accepted. The guest judge is Rochelle Belsito, Editor-in-Chief of Southwest Art.

The submission deadline is Wednesday, April 8, 2026. Entry fee is $35 for one work, with $8 per additional entry. There is no limit on the number of submissions. Images must be JPG format and under 4 MB, with a minimum of 1920 pixels on the longest side at 72 dpi. Artists will be notified via email on or around Monday, April 20, 2026. Awards include First Place ($1,000), Second Place ($500), Third Place ($250), and Honorable Mention ($100). Special Recognition Awards of $50 are available for Student Artist, Mentorship Program, and Associate Artist Members. Approximately 30-40 works of exceptional merit will receive visibility through the CAC website, social media, and the California Art Club Newsletter. The commission split is 60% artist and 40% CAC.
