Everything We Do is Music

"Everything We Do is Music" is the theme of Gallery 114's annual June juried exhibit. The gallery invites 2D and 3D artists to respond to the theme by exploring whether their work exudes rhythm, melody, lyrics, harmony or dissonance from a social, political or musical perspective. Does it elicit a reaction in sounds, words or movement? Does it dance or sway? Does it move the viewer like a song or symphony? Does it sing?

Gallery 114 is one of the oldest art collectives on the west coast, located in the heart of Portland, Oregon's Pearl District. As an artist-owned, artist-run gallery, Gallery 114 encourages members and jury participants to take risks and explore new and different creative efforts with underlying quality and integrity. All 2D and 3D media are welcome. Works must be original, with individual pieces not extending beyond 7 feet in height and 5 feet in width. Prices for a single piece should not exceed $5,000. The entry fee is $30 for three submissions. The submission deadline is May 8, 2018 at 12:00 a.m. Central Time. Notification of acceptance will be sent by May 11, 2018. The exhibit runs from June 7-30, 2018, with an opening reception on Thursday, June 7 from 6-9 p.m. Accepted works must arrive by 5 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018. Each accepted entry must be installation-ready, framed or encased, with appropriate hanging hardware and installation instructions, and clearly labeled with the artist's name and title of the work. Gallery 114 will insure works while on site for the market value of the work. All work must be picked up by 6 p.m. June 30, 2018, or will be returned during the two weeks following the close of the exhibition if prepaid return shipping was provided. Artists are responsible for all shipping and return shipping costs, including insurance.
