Everything Folds and Unfolds: Regional Juried Exhibition

Everything Folds and Unfolds is a regional juried exhibition at South Haven Center for the Arts (600 Phoenix St, South Haven, MI 49090) running September 23 through November 5, 2022. The exhibition is juried by Jiangmei Wu, an interdisciplinary scholar and artist working with mathematics, science, and engineering in spatial and interior art and design projects, particularly investigating geometry, surface texture, computational algorithms, and paper folding techniques.

This call seeks artists exploring various didactic material and cultural concepts through folding and unfolding. Work can be two-dimensional or three-dimensional in any medium. Entries are open to artists 18 years and older residing in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Ohio. All work must be original and completed in the last three years. Size limits: 2D works maximum 72" high x 55" wide; 3D works must fit through a standard doorway and weigh no more than 50 lbs. No installations or ceiling-hung work. A maximum of three images will be accepted, and accepted artwork must remain on display for the duration of the exhibition.

Entry fee is $40.00 for up to three pieces, with a reduced fee of $15.00 for student artists and artists economically challenged by COVID or unforeseen events. Awards include $500 for First Place and $250 for Second Place. Prospective entrants must submit images in JPEG format with a title and brief statement explaining how the piece relates to the theme. Delivery of accepted work is September 7-17, 2022. Opening reception is Friday, September 23, 5-7pm. Artwork pickup is November 8-12, 2022, or November 5 from 4-4:30pm.
