Esther Rolle Centennial Exhibition at the Ali Cultural Arts Center

The City of Pompano Beach invites artists nationwide to submit original artworks commemorating the life and legacy of celebrated actress and activist Esther Rolle. Born in Pompano Beach, Rolle is best known for her role as Florida Evans on the CBS television sitcom Maude and its spin-off series Good Times. Selected artworks will be exhibited at the Ali Cultural Arts Center from October 30, 2020 through February 11, 2021 as part of celebrations marking what would have been her 100th birthday on November 8, 2020.

Submit up to ten (10) digital images of original artwork completed within the last ten (10) years. Work must not exceed 50" in any dimensions, and all two-dimensional work must be ready-to-hang. Images should be submitted in JPG format, no larger than 5MB each, named with your name and artwork title (example: smith_jane_title.jpg). Entry fee is $15 for up to 10 images. Submission deadline: August 16, 2020, 11:59pm MDT. Notification of acceptance will be sent October 2, 2020.

Artists are responsible for round-trip shipping and insurance of artworks. Work may be shipped prepaid via UPS or FedEx with a prepaid return label, or delivered in person to the Ali Cultural Arts Center. All shipments must be in sturdy, reusable packing. Work sent via US Postal Service must include a shipping label (stamps not accepted). Artists selected will receive a 70% commission on artwork sold.
