About This Call

Melton City Council invites Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified artist(s) to deliver public art outcomes for the new Aquatic and Leisure Centre (ALC), a major new multipurpose community leisure and function facility located within the emerging Frasers Rise community. The commission comprises two significant public art opportunities located within the facility’s arrival sequence: a landmark Forecourt Artwork and a Suspended Foyer Artwork. Together, these opportunities present a unique chance to contribute to the identity of one of Melton’s most important new community destinations within the available public artwork budget. The curatorial framework for the project is centred on the theme of Becoming – reflecting both the growth of the surrounding community and the role ALC will play in supporting learning, wellbeing, participation and connection. Artists are encouraged to respond to this theme through contemporary public art practice, creating works that are site-responsive, engaging and meaningful to the people who will use and experience the facility. This Expression of Interest (EOI) process seeks to identify artists with the experience, capability and creative vision to progress to a subsequent paid Request for Tender (RFT) stage by invitation.
