ENGULFED

Artworks Center for Contemporary Art (ACCA) in Loveland, Colorado is seeking submissions for ENGULFED, an international juried exhibition shedding light on the crisis of forest fires across the globe. Artists may respond to forest fires by developing work that focuses on global warming, resource destruction, property damage, loss of life, wilderness protection, sustainability, political issues, fire mitigation, first responders, or broadly conceptual work dealing with the interpretation of "engulfed". ACCA is a contemporary art center and traditional representational work may not be eligible.

Eligible media include painting, photography, printmaking, mixed media, fibers, metals, woodworking, ceramics, glass, and sculpture. The following are NOT ELIGIBLE: decorated furniture, giclee prints of original work and not an edition, candles, pressed flowers, handmade reproductions, and objects made from commercial kits or commercially available plans. All artists age 18+ are encouraged to apply. Entry fee is $35.00. Submissions must include at least one image along with an artist statement (under 100 words) about why your piece is in line with the call. Work sample requirements: 1-3 images, 0-1 audio files, 0-1 video files, 1-5 total samples.

Show dates: July 14 through September 23, 2023. Drop off and delivery by July 10, 2023. Pick up by September 27, 2023. Notifications by June 16, 2023. Artist/Curator Talk: September 9, 2pm MST (in person and via video conference). Awards: First place $200, Second place $100, Honorable mention $50. Juror: Sarah E. LaBarre, Executive Director and Curator of ACCA.
