About This Call

The Cloyde Snook Gallery at Adams State University seeks artwork in all media for a national juried exhibition titled "enGENDERing Change." This exhibition is in conjunction with "enGENDERing Change: The ASU Theatre Gender Project" and features the award-winning play A Doll's House, Part 2. The exhibition seeks submissions that conceptually or literally explore topics related to gender equity, gender identity and expression, sexism and stereotypes, feminism, choice, and other issues related to empowering each person to live fully as an autonomous and authentic individual.

All artists 18 years of age and older residing in the United States may enter. Artists may submit up to 3 images for review. Work must be original and completed within the last three years. All media will be considered, though insurance does not cover glass or ceramic work. Accepted 2D artwork must be properly framed with plexi-glass or prepared for exhibition; no glass will be permitted on 2D work. Shipped work must conform to UPS restrictions: 130" girth plus length (crated) and 150 lbs. (crated). The entry fee is $35.00. Artists are responsible for round trip shipping costs and must enclose a prepaid return shipping label.

The jurors are Dr. Ann Woods, an award-winning graphics, book, and paper artist, and Dr. Alan Woods, Emeritus Professor of Theatre at Ohio State University. The "Best in Show" award offers a future solo exhibition at the Cloyde Snook Gallery. Accepted works will be insured while on university premises. All proceeds from works sold go directly to the artist; the gallery takes no commission but encourages donations of 10 to 20%. Artists will be notified of acceptance by September 2, 2019. Work is due September 27, 2019. The exhibition opens October 7, 2019, with an opening reception on October 18, 2019 from 5-7 pm, and closes November 7, 2019. For more information, contact Prof. Eugene Schilling at (719) 587-7301 or [email protected].
