Energeia (Energy)

Artists are invited to submit original artwork for the 'Energeia (Energy)' exhibit at R Gallery in Boulder, Colorado. The word energeia derives from Ancient Greek, literally translated to 'activity, operation,' and was a qualitative philosophical concept that included cosmic forces, workmanship, supernatural action, happiness, and pleasure. Through the use of form, composition, color, and motion, art can convey the energy that physically or emotionally influences our world. In this exhibit, artwork should convey the artist's concept or depiction of energy.

The exhibition runs from January 21 to March 1, 2020, and is open to all mediums including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, and mixed-media. The gallery is open to Colorado residents only. All entries must be of original design and personal execution. Submission deadline is January 5, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Entry fee is $35.00 plus a $5.00 media fee. Submit 3-8 images of your work. It is best to submit pieces less than 30" wide, including frame or case; only a few spots are available for pieces up to 48" wide. You may submit multiple images, but the gallery normally selects only one piece from each selected artist.

Accepted works must arrive by January 19, 2020. Notification of acceptance will be sent January 7, 2020. The artists' reception is Friday, February 7, 2020 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. All pieces must remain up for the duration of the exhibition and must be for sale. R Gallery handles all sales and charges a 50% commission. Work will be returned by March 15, 2020 unless otherwise agreed upon. A prepaid return label must be provided if sending work by carrier.
