About This Call
The Museum of Northern California Art (monca) is seeking original artworks not previously exhibited at monca. Artists are invited to submit original artwork in any medium that captures the essence of significant architectural landmarks—places that hold meaning in your own life, whether from your hometown, childhood memories, or travels afar. Giclée prints of original art and non-photographic art will not be accepted. AI-generated work is not permitted.
Eligibility is limited to artists residing in Northern California, defined as San Jose and all points north, east, and west to the state border. The entry fee is $15 for one entry and $10 for each additional entry, with a maximum of 8 entries. Work samples should include 1-8 images and 0-3 videos. Jury selection will be made by the museum's exhibition committee, comprised of professional artists and art collectors. Jury dates are May 27 - June 8, 2025, with results notification on or before June 9, 2025.
Accepted work must be delivered ready to hang or display. Wall-hung work must be fitted with framing wire for the museum's cable and hook system; sawtooth hangers will be disqualified. Three-dimensional work must fit on a pedestal (which monca can provide) or the artist may provide alternative display means. All work must be dry and clean, with the artist's name, phone number, and title on the back. The exhibition runs July 10 - August 24, 2025, with an opening reception on Friday, July 11, 6-8 pm. Artwork delivery dates are June 26-29 and July 3, 5, and 6 (closed July 4th) during museum hours, 11am-5pm. Artwork pickup is August 24 at 5pm or during museum hours August 28-31 and September 4-7. Works left beyond September 7 will be assessed a storage fee of $5 per piece per day (Thursday-Sunday); works left beyond October 9 will become property of monca. All fees are non-refundable. Postage, packaging, and shipping insurance are the artist's responsibility. If work is shipped back, the artist must provide a pre-paid mailing label. The museum is not responsible for loss or damage in shipment. Artists wishing to sell exhibited work should provide a retail price reflecting a 50% museum commission.
