Encaustic Works 2011

R&F Handmade Paints is sponsoring a biennial juried competition for encaustic artists. The competition is open to all artists aged 18 and older worldwide. Employees of R&F Handmade Paints and their spouses are not eligible, but freelance R&F workshop instructors may submit. There is no entry fee.

This competition is medium specific. Only works made with encaustic paint or hot wax are eligible. Mixed-media works that employ encaustic or wax are acceptable. Artists should submit works created approximately within the past three years and should not submit work previously featured in a past Encaustic Works exhibition. Each artist will submit 5 images which will comprise their portfolio. The whole portfolio will be viewed at once and artists will be selected based on their body of work. No changes or substitutions will be allowed after selections are made.

Artist submissions are accepted from September 1 through October 5, 2011. Jurying will occur between October 13-15, 2011, and artists will be notified shortly thereafter. The publication will highlight approximately 18 artists, with each artist receiving two 2-page spreads. The five works submitted in the portfolio will be used for these spreads, though layout and number of works featured may vary. Joanne Mattera will serve as juror and will write an illustrated introduction for the book. After submitting through the application platform, artists must mail a CD with high-resolution images (300 dpi, largest pixel dimension 3600) to: R&F Handmade Paints, 84 Ten Broeck Ave., Kingston, NY 12401. Label the disc with your name and EW11 submissions.
