About This Call
Photographers and photo-based artists are invited to submit work to "The Changing World," a call for entries for an En Foco member's exhibition. Whether the simple change of seasons, rites of passage, issues of urban gentrification or technological advancement, we all individually experience change. Sometimes through our own motivation, observation or circumstances that we endure, change is upon us individually, in our community and on the global stage.
The exhibition is open to En Foco members of all nationalities/ethnicities, working in all photo-based media. There is no entry fee, but a current membership is required to participate (current through May 2011, or new membership). All submissions will be pre-reviewed by a Committee comprised of En Foco Curators and Advisors; the distinguished juror will review the top 40 to select the final exhibiting artists (4-6). Work to be exhibited must be no larger than 20x24" framed and ready to hang. Selected exhibiting artists must deliver work to the gallery and pick it up after the show closes (or arrange for shipping). International entries will be considered only if shipping arrangements are made in advance.
Submit 5 tightly edited images from the same series with full title/caption information (title, series title, year taken, medium and size). Include a resume/CV and an artist statement of up to 350 words. Exhibition dates: April 4–April 29, 2011 at John Jay Art Gallery, NYC. Curator: Michael Foley, Foley Gallery, NYC. Prizes include a portfolio on Photoserve.com for one year, PDN subscriptions, Canson Infinity product gift certificates, FujiFilm Instax cameras, and Vernakular.com products. One or more photographers will be selected to have an image used on products of Vernakular Photo Designs (artist receives 10% of net sales).
