About This Call
En Foco, Inc. invites U.S. based photographers of Latino, African and Asian heritage, and Native Peoples of the Americas and Pacific to submit work to the New Works Photography Fellowship Awards #18. The program encourages artists to create or continue an in-depth photographic series in any photo-based fine art or documentary style/genre. There is no fee to apply.
Eligibility and Requirements: Your work should address issues relevant to your personal experience, with photographic imagery containing cultural consciousness grounded in identity and personal statement. You may propose a new project or continue existing work; decisions are based on image quality. Submissions must include 15 tightly edited images from the same series, a written project proposal (no more than 500 words), a one-page biography/resume, and a statement about your work as an artist. If selected, your new work must consist of 15-20 exhibition-quality images for an En Foco exhibition in New York City.
Prizes and Selection: Fellows typically receive a $1,000 honorarium ($100 for Honorable Mentions), camera bags from Lowepro, publication in Nueva Luz, an exhibition in New York City, a photographer's page on enfoco.org, and a one-year En Foco membership ($100 value). All submissions are reviewed by En Foco's curatorial staff, with the top 50 entries submitted to guest juror Danielle Jackson of the Bronx Documentary Center. Selected fellows will have six to eight months to continue their proposed series for the 2015 exhibition. This exhibition is supported in part by the New York State Council of the Arts, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Bronx Council of the Arts.
