Emotions in Focus

The Tolleson Art Gallery invites photographers and videographers to submit their work for Emotions in Focus, an exhibition dedicated to exploring the depth, complexity, and universality of feeling. From joy to grief, serenity to chaos, this exhibit will showcase the power of photography and video to capture and convey the emotional essence of life's moments. Submissions may depict raw, candid expressions or subtle, symbolic interpretations. The gallery welcomes traditional, experimental, or digitally manipulated photography as long as the photographic medium is central to the work and the emotional narrative is at the heart of the piece. Whether the subject is human, natural, or abstract, the piece should evoke a strong emotional response in the viewer.

This exhibition is open only to Arizona artists of all backgrounds and experience levels. Accepted mediums include still photography and video. Entry is free. Each artist can submit up to six works. Photos must be in JPEG format with a minimum resolution of 300 DPI, with the title included in the file name. Submissions must include the title, dimensions, medium, and price of each piece. All entries must be original works created by the submitting artist. A brief artist statement (maximum 250 words) related to the submission and how it connects to the theme is required.

The exhibition runs from October 17 to December 20, 2025, at Tolleson Art Gallery, located inside Tolleson Public Library, 9055 W Van Buren St, Tolleson, AZ. Selected artists will receive a $575 stipend if they present a program (minimum 1 hour) such as a workshop, artist talk, demo, or other public engagement, or a $100 stipend if exhibiting without presenting a program. The submission deadline is September 19, 2025.
